What does it actually mean to be visible to AI?

When your guests ask ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity for a hotel recommendation, the AI answers with a short list of names. Being visible to AI means your hotel appears on that list, described correctly and recommended for the right reasons. If the AI does not have clear, consistent information about you, it cannot recommend you with confidence, so it leaves you out.

Is this just SEO with a new name?

No. Traditional SEO is about ranking on a page of Google links. This is about being chosen as the answer when there is no page of links at all, just a direct recommendation from an AI. The guest never sees ten options. They see three. The work to be one of those three is different from ranking on Google.

ChatGPT ads went live across Europe less than two weeks ago. This week, I created the first one for a client.

It felt like a small milestone, being early enough to actually test something this new with a real client, not just in theory. And honestly, I am excited to see what it actually brings once the real numbers come in.

Worth remembering though, the ad does not create visibility out of nothing, it amplifies a shortlist ChatGPT already has in mind. The groundwork still comes first.
